Catholics from around the state of Missouri will gather Saturday, October 6, at Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City for the Missouri Catholic Conference’s (MCC) 2018 Annual Assembly. This free event provides the bishops of Missouri an opportunity to meet with Catholics to discuss how citizens can witness to their faith in the public policy arena.
The theme of this year’s Annual Assembly is Pope Francis at Five Years: The Church at the Peripheries.
Attached is a flier you can copy and distribute to members of your council and others. Also attached is an announcement you can place in newsletters that you send to Knights. You can also clickhere to register online or find more information about the Annual Assembly.
Our keynote speaker will be Bishop Joseph Perry of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He will open our Assembly and is expected to give an inspiring presentation on Pope Francis’ papacy to date. There will also be a strong line-up of workshops, including one on immigration law and another on the death penalty. Other workshops will address pro-life legislation past and future, the opioid epidemic, and a Catholic response to the LGBTQ community. The day will conclude with a Mass concelebrated by all the Catholic bishops of Missouri.
We have an excellent assembly prepared but our challenge is to make sure Catholics know about the event and attend. We hope you can attend and encourage other Knights to attend. God Bless!
