Council Announcements

Welcome to St. Edward’s Knights of Columbus Council #6546.  The Knights of Columbus was founded by a parish priest, Father Michael McGivney, in 1882 in New Haven Connecticut.  Today, the Knights are the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization.  Our council consists of your fellow Catholic men, who work hard to serve our parish and community.   Please feel free to approach any Knight, and ask about our order. Knights are the gentleman who wear gold name badges at all our weekend liturgies.

We hold monthly business meetings the first Monday of every month at 7:00pm.  Our meetings are preceded by a recitation of the rosary at 6:40pm. Please let me know if you have questions on how to join (see link below) or if you have questions on our service projects or charities.

Knights of Columbus Council #6546

Monthly Business Meeting – January 7, 2019

Catholic Formation (Deacon Kevin Hogan)

Into the Breach- Apostolic Exhortation to Catholic Men “A Call to Battle; Purpose of this Exhortation”

3 Primary Questions: (1) What does it mean to be a Christian man? (2) How does a Catholic man Love? (3) Why is fatherhood, fully understood, so crucial for every man?

  • Begin each discussion with a simple prayer: Our Father, Hail Mary, or Glory Be

  • Discuss progress on spiritual goals outlined in the previous meeting’s “Call to Battle” section

  • Discuss the text using questions provided under “Understanding the Breach”

→ In this portion of your discussion, consider using quotes from “Bricks for the Breach

  • Meditate upon the suggested scriptural passages under “Sword of the Spirit”

→ Consider having a member read this aloud using the Lectio Divina format

  • Announce the practical spiritual goals for the week based upon the “Call to Battle” section

→  Remind members that you will discuss progress on these goals at the next meeting

  • Conclude with suggested prayer and encourage members to recite prayer each day all week

Prayer of Surrender to the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore you.

Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me.

Tell me what I should do. Give me your orders.

I promise to submit myself to all that you desire of me

And to accept all that you permit to happen to me.

Let me only know your will. AMEN
