Journal entry by ROBIN DORAN

Today is full of good news!  I am absolutely thrilled to give this journal update.

Dennis was able to swallow more ice chips today during speech therapy.  He's getting stronger with the swallowing ability daily.  He is still using his walker, but he walked 120 steps today on his own!!  That probably exceeds what he has walked in total since his surgery!  Isn't that amazing?  I am so proud for him.

I always seem to interrupt him with questions when he calls.  I always want as many details as I can get!  Today, he wouldn't let me interrupt him because he had the most amazing and unexpected news.  The rehabilitation folks say that if he continues his progress they will release him to come home for outpatient therapy on January 24th!! Can you believe it?  Home.  I am so very happy at this news.  It feels like he has been gone forever.  We still have all of our Christmas presents to open!! We agreed to wait and celebrate our Christmas when he came home.  I guess we can call them home-coming presents instead.  Whatever it's called, the greatest gift will be my Dennis walking into our home.  I'm not a big picture taker, but this calls for pictures!!  I may even post some here for you all to see.

I know none of this would be possible without God and you.  Your many prayers, love, support and encouragement have made this happen.  God hears our prayers.  You, dear friends and family, have been so constant in your support and prayers that I am in awe of each of you.  Thank you for everything.  We still have a long way to go, but we can't do it without you.  So, please, keep up your prayers and who knows what they will Dennis will accomplish?  I already feel as if you have pulled off a miracle in getting Dennis and me this far. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  We love you and are exceedingly happy to have you with us on this journey.
