        2018-2019 Illinois Vocations Support Raffle

Dear Brother Knight,

Saint Padre Pio once wrote that “It is easier for the earth to exist without the sun than without the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.”  And it obviously follows that without priests, there will be no Holy Sacrifice of the Mass!  The Catholic Church in the United States is in crisis due to the shortage of priests.  In our diocese we ordain fewer priests each year than we lose through death or retirement.  A major factor in parish closings now is the diminished number of available priests.  There may come a day when there are not enough priests to regularly administer the Sacraments.  The Knights of Columbus must stand up for those who are answering the call from God.

Please find the enclosed Illinois Vocations Support Raffle ticket booklets.  Each one contains 15 tickets for $1 apiece.  The Grand Prize is $10,000 with twenty prizes in all.

This raffle is an opportunity to support our future priests.  We ask each Brother Knight to either purchase or sell two books to help our cause.  For every $15 raffle book sold the Illinois State Council allows us to keep $9.  With your $30 donation we are able to invest $18 in the education of a Joliet area seminarian.

Please return all booklets by Friday November 9th so that they can be processed and returned by the deadline.  Make checks payable to Rev. Gordon Michels Council # 12014.

  • Bring them to the council meeting at St. Mary Nativity on 8/21, 9/18, or 10/16.
  • Give them to any council officer to pass over to me.
  • Mail them to me at 3325 Aspen CT, Joliet, IL 60431
  • Call me at 815-953-6785 if you need assistance or more booklets

Thank you for helping our future priests.  VIVAT JESUS!
