Congratulations to brother Mike Paccasassi. Mike was selected as a 2016 Victor Cardosi award winner. This prestigious award is presented to knights who go above and beyond the ordinary in exemplifying charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Mike's nomination was submitted to the selection committee and they saw what we already knew. Mike is an outstanding example of all that we strive to be as a knight. His service to our council, parish and community has always been a model for us all.
Please join us at the award banquet on Saturday April 23. Contact Tom Dorsey for details/reservations and be sure to act soon as seating is limited and will be given on a first come first serve basis.
Finally, if you haven't heard, Mike and Ann Marie are in the process of moving. We're happy for them with Mike's upcoming retirement but certainly this will be a big loss for our council. Be sure to wish them well soon as the move is already underway.
Congrats to Brother MIKE MCLAMORE! Mike received his 2nd and 3rd degree today (Sunday 7/26). Mike was accompanied by Brother Dick Walz and also our former DD Tim Rogers.
Once again our support for the Food For Families program resulted in recognition from Supreme. We contributed over $2,000 toward the purchase of breakfast food that we served at Hesed House. Supreme reimbursed us $400 which makes our funds go further. Peter Chinnici (co-coordinator with Greg Gambla - Hesed House breakfasts) is seen here presenting GK Tom Dorsey with the updated recognition plaque.
Brothers have answered the call from Holy Spirit's Pastor Care ministry to help with a Benton Harbor Health Fair. Parish nurse Kathy Ford with Father Dennis have arranged for our parish to partner with a Michigan parish that is underserved and in great need. The following Knights (and some spouses) will be going up on 8/12 in order to get the event off on time on the 13th. Tom Dorsey, Jay Johnson, Don Cervenka, Chris Mazzoni, Jim Krzmarzick and Matt Schultz.
Please pray for the success of this mission.
Brothers: The Lockport American Legion is hosting the display of the Moving Vietnam War Memorial. The event will start on August 20th and run through August 24th. There are still volunteer opportunities available. All volunteer scheduling will be done through Tom Jost at the American Legion. Tom J. can be contacted at email@example.com or 815-370-2595.
Opening ceremonies were great with Bob Jankowski and wife Joice singing the national anthem. Tony Magrady and Tom Dorsey represented our council in the opening ceremony honor guard.
Congratulations to brother Jay, his wife April (who did all the work) and the whole Johnson family. Timothy looks quite handsome and I noticed he has more hair than 1/2 our members! Family is all doing well adjusting to the new arrival.
The date has been set, the permit secured and planning underway for our annual picnic. This year you can expect more fun and games for kids and adults alike. The council will be providing the meats and beverages and guests can bring sides or desserts. Please be sure to invite any prospective knights. Sign-ups will be going out soon.
As before, the location is just accross the street from the church and will start after the 11:00 mass. Don't miss this event!
August 30th will be our first Knight's lead rosary after the 11:00 Mass. We will be leading the rosary in every month that has a fifth Sunday. Free rosaries will be provided by the Knights to those that need them.
This is also our picnic weekend. It would be great for those not setting up the picnic to join us for the rosary before going accross the street. Mary and her knights, nothing can stand in the way!
Brothers: This is a fun way to help a great cause. Sign up early because the slots will fill quickly. Children 6 and older are welcome to participate. We are starting at 11:30 and will wrap up at 1:30. Jay Johnson can answer any additional questions you may have. The facility is located just north of the Fox Valley Mall. If people are interested, we can meet for breakfast prior or lunch after.

Our next two breakfast dates are now set. Signups will be going out soon. This is a great ministry. It's early but only for a few hours. If you need more information, contact Greg Gambla or Peter Chinnici. Guest are very appreciative. Please consider taking advantage of these opportunities.

We've been invited back to help with this very successfull Make A Wish event. The organizers are hoping top last years take of $58,000. This years event will be held at the McQ's Sports Dome in Bolingbrook. Last year they were able to grant 10 wishes and with our help I know we can do even better this year. Check back for signup information.
Check out the Chili Cookoff webpage for more detailed info and some great photos.
The date has been set so mark your calendars! This is a very popular event. We've secured the clubhouse for game day. The Bears will be victorious over the Washington Redskins. All proceeds go to our vocations fund which allows us to make considerable annual contributions to our adopted seminarian. This year our council will be supporting Matt Schultz from Holy Spirit as he enters the seminary this fall. Ticket information and more details to follow.
Congratulaations to Jim Nowak our newest Sir Knight. Great time was enjoyed by all. Tony and Frank represented us well as Honor Guard participants.
Fund established to help those in great need in Iraq answering Pope Frances' call for prayer and support.
A good time was had by all as the Sox beat KC 2-0 on a warm summer night. Discount tickets were available and the Sox made a contribution to our Knight charities to boot! The only thing that made it better was the sparkling fireworks display. Magrady's , Dorsey's, Chinnici's, Reveles' and friends all made for good company.
Brothers: Frank Reveles and Tom Dorsey participated in the honor guard and attended this years Bishop's Burse. $15,000 was donated by the Joliet Councils for the Bishop's discretionary charitable fund. Our council was a contributing council to this worthy annual cause. Frank and I had a great time and the meal was very good as well. I give this event a big thumbs up if you are interested for next year. (Speeches were held to a minimum, a big plus!)
For the second year in a row, our council has been able to make a generous gift to the parish to replace vestments for our visiting priests. The original vestments were purchased when the parish started and are showing signs of wear. The old vestments will be cleaned and dontated to a parish community that is unable to afford their own vestments. This year's contribution was $1,750 on top of last year's $1,500. Father Dennis was very appreciative of our gift. This was largely possible due to your efforts in selling the charity mania football tickets. Great work Brothers!
Brothers: On Wednesday October 29th our council provided a delicious lunch for the staff here at Holy Spirit. It was the Knight's way of saying thank you for what they do for the parsish and our council. It was also a great opportunity to meet some of the staff and interact with them as some of them are recent hires. Big thanks to Jim Krzmarzick for all the upfront planning work he did for this event. Also thanks to those who set up, served and cleaned up: Tom Kasler, Dick Walz, Jim Nowak, Don Cervanka and Tom Dorsey.
Brothers: Money is still coming in and we are just a hair under $40,000 for this years total! Great Job! What fun for a great cause.
Here is an opportunity to purchase a full tuxedo at a very modest price. Probably cheaper than a rental! We are not vouching for the quality as we do not at this point know anyone who has purchased from this group. Love to have some feedback. Details are provided through the link.
Worthy Sir Knights: Now there is an opportunity to rent a full set of regalia for only $20 per event. After 3 events, the cost drops to just $10! See attached file for details.
