K of C's annual Free Throw Championship - Saturday Jan. 27, 2018 at 10AM

   Since 1972, Knights of Columbus councils have sponsored the K of C International Free Throw Championship for boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 14.

   Fr. Baker Council #2243 will be participating as a sponsor for this event! The contests will take place at gymnasium of Our Lady of Victory Elementary School on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10 AM.

   The championship is set up to have the contestants compete within their own gender and age group. All competition starts at the local (council) level. Winners move on to the district, regional, and state and international levels. Boys & girls who have not participated in the free throw contest sponsored by other area councils are invited to participate in this event.

   Entry forms are available by clicking the link above and also at the admissions table the morning of the event. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and parental consent. Contact council members John Radwan (716-675-1804) or Bob Meegan (716-348-6119) for further information.

   Volunteers will help with registering the participants, scoring contest participants, and other on-court tasks. Volunteers must arrive by 9AM. Those interested in helping out can call John Radwan or Bob Meegan for details.

College Scholarships for incoming freshmen

Catholic college scholarship applications are available from the Knights of Columbus for incoming freshmen. An applicant must be: a U.S. student entering freshman year of undergraduate study at a Catholic college or university in the United States, and either a member in good standing of the K of C or the wife, widow, son or daughter of such a member or deceased member. Applications are available after October 1, 2017 by requesting one at https://www.kofc.org/un/en/contact/scholarships_app.html or by calling 203-752-4332. Completed applications must be received by the Knights of Columbus Department of Scholarships by March 1, 2018.

NY State Council K of C - High School Scholarship Program and Tuition Grant Program Applications

PURPOSE: To provide Financial Assistance to dependent children, grandchildren and legal wards of Knights of Columbus members for the furthering of their Catholic High School education.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: Scholarships are awarded based upon the scholastic aptitude of the applicants and their involvement in Church and/or Community activities. The scholarship is awarded without consideration of financial need. REQUIREMENTS:

1. Applicant must be a son, daughter, grandchild or legal ward of a Knights of Columbus member in good standing of a Council located in New York. Children of deceased members who demise occurred while in good standing are also eligible .

2. Application is for 9th Grade applicants planning to enter a Catholic high school only.     

3. Acceptance in a New York State Catholic high school for the school year beginning in September of that year. 

4. A student entering the 9th grade of a New York State Catholic High School may apply for both a Tuition Grant and a Scholarship Award, but may only receive ONLY one or the other.

5.  Completed applications must be RECEIVED by the NY State Council by April 1.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Applicant must be a son, daughter, grandchild or legal ward of a Knights of Columbus member in good standing of a Council located in New York. Children of deceased members who demise occurred while in good standing are also eligible .

2. Application is for 9th Grade applicants planning to enter a Catholic high school only.     

3. Acceptance in a New York State Catholic high school for the school year beginning in September of that year. 

4. A student entering the 9th grade of a New York State Catholic High School may apply for both a Tuition Grant and a Scholarship Award, but may only receive ONLY one or the other.

5. One tuition grant in the amount of $500 .00 will be awarded for each diocese in the State of New York. Awards must be renewed for each subsequent year the students attends a New York State Catholic High School by submitting a renewal application. Total Award $2000.

6. After the first year, renewal information must be submitted for continuation of the Tuition Grant for each consecutive year (up to a maximum of 3 additional years). 

5.  Completed applications must be RECEIVED by the NY State Council by April 1.
