News & Announcements
The following was sent via email to Brother Knights on 1/15/2018. Please review that message for the full text of the message--an edited message is shown below; responses can be made via the email message.
I recruited a candidate for admission into our Council at a birthday party where the guests were saying great things about the Knights and what their membership in our Order has meant to them. He liked what he heard and asked to join. This is a perfect example of the evangelization I talked about in recent updates. You can do this with your family, neighbors, coworkers and friends. If you don’t know enough to evangelize, then come to our meetings and learn. You’ll pick it up quickly and become very comfortable endorsing the Knights. Encouraging a friend to join is like giving him a precious, valuable gift. He is the one who will benefit.
Here are a couple of other bullets for you:
• Jan 25 Meeting: Knights Discuss Building the Domestic Church. 7:00 PM at St. Charles Hall. This is a very important meeting for all knights and their wives. We are going to strategically change the focus of our council. Our emphasis will be on helping to stop the terrible loss of Catholics by demonstrating our faith through actions and making it easy and fun for others to do the same. Every Knight needs to fully understand the dire threat faced by our Church and what he needs to do about it. Come learn and participate in the discussion. Please rsvp (via the email) so we can arrange enough food and beverage.
• West Coast Walk for Life. Jan 27, 12:30 PM, Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco. Our council will bring 200 marchers this year. At least half should be Knights and their families. Put this on your calendar now. Show your kids how to peacefully protest the murder of innocent lives. Let your voices be heard, and have your spirits be strengthened by over 50,000 kindred souls. A Signup Genius was issued last week, and we will put out weekly reminders.
• Last Call to sign up for the 4th Degree on Feb 3 in Rohnert Park. Contact me directly if you wish to take this fantastic step in your development as a Knight. Details are attached.
• Feb 10: Annual Knights of Columbus Crab Feed. This singular event raises funds to cover all our operating expenses and most of our charitable contributions. Please buy your tickets now, and consider buying a whole table for your family and friends. Encourage them to be generous in supporting our many worthy causes. Please contact Dennis Lundbom if you have items you can donate for the Auction. Brothers often donate gift baskets, time shares, sports memorabilia, artwork, etc. See the attached flyer for details.
Dues notices were sent to each member in December. A second notice will go out this week. Let this be the last notice. Please pay your dues promptly or contact me to request a waiver for financial hardship. We will take care of you right away. We are required to contact you with monthly letters, calls and visits if you don’t pay on time. None of us joined the Knights to be bill collectors. We all have more important things to do with our limited volunteer hours. So, please extend us the professional and fraternal courtesy of responding to the dues notice this week or next.
Thank you and Best Wishes.
