Kelly Scholarship Winners 2018

The Fourth annual Bill Kelly Scholarship was presented this year at Porta High School. Bill Kelly bequeathed funds to the local Knights of Columbus Council for the sole purpose of providing scholarships to PORTA graduates.  Pictured above is Chuck Fagan presenting a check to Brooklyn Kesler, she will attend St. Ambrose University working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education. Brooklyn was awarded $2500 towards her college cost and is eligible for an additional $2500 each year up to three additional years for a total of $10,000.

2ND Kelly Schollarshipp Winner 2018

Tyler was awarded $2500 towards his college cost and is eligible for an additional $2500 each year up to three additional years for a total of $10,000.

1 Year Kelly Scholarship Winners 2018

The Knights of Columbus Council 5754 presented four $2000, one year scholarships to Porta graduates this year, funded by the Bill Kelly endowment. Bill Kelly bequeathed funds to the local Knights of Columbus Council for the sole purpose of providing scholarships to PORTA graduates.  Winners were:

 

Noah Foster who will be attending Carroll University in Wisconsin with a double major in History and Political Science,

Ben Rathgeb who will be attending Illinois University in Jacksonville, majoring in Chemistry,

Tucker Wheaton and  Makenna Vickers, both will be attending  Illinois State University working towards a degree in the medical field.  

KC Council Scholarship Winners 2018

The Sangamon Valley Knights of Columbus Council 5754 awards scholarships to graduating seniors from Porta and Athens High Schools each year.  The graduates are members of the St Peters and Holy Family Parishes .  The award is based on the graduate’s participation in youth and community activities thru both parishes.  Emily Fleck and McKenna Servis were this years winners of a $2500 Scholarship.

 

Emily will be attending Blackburn College in Carlinville, majoring in Biology education.  She is wants to become a High School Biology teacher.

 

MCKenna will be attending Illinois In Jacksonville majoring in History and hope to work in Washing DC as an archivist.
