The Knights of Columbus St. Benedict Council 9056 is sponsoring their traditional Shrove Tuesday  Pancake Supper at St. Gregory the Great Church on February 13, 2017 in Immaculata Hall from 5:30PM to 7:00PM.   Menu includes Pancakes, Bacon, Sausage, Fruit, Cereal, Milk, Coffee, Tea and Juice.  Tickets will be sold at the door. Adults $5.00… Children 4 – 12 yrs. $3.00...Under 4 Free.

Bring the family and enjoy some of the “lightest, best tasting pancakes this side of heaven.”  Shrove Tuesday dates back to the Middle Ages when the day before Ash Wednesday marked the time of spiritual preparation centering on repentance and confession. Since Christians had to abstain from eating meat, fat, eggs and dairy products during the 40 days of Lent, pancakes were an easy way to use up many of the staples that otherwise would go bad during the Lenten fast.  Bring family and friends and join brother Knights and the church community in enjoying a delicious pre-Lenten Pancake Supper feast in preparation for the Lenten Season.

The Knights of Columbus, St. Benedict Council 9056, continue their Parish Fish Fry Dinners Each Friday during Lent (except Good Friday).  The first Fish Fry is Friday, February 16.

Time:  5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Benedict Hall (between SGGS Gym and Marian Manor).  TAKE OUT or DINE IN… Only $8.00… Children under 10 Yrs. $4.00.  Tickets available at the door.

Hope4 Life Support

Next week starts the fall 40 Days for Life Campaign.  We'll be posting daily information on the Right to Life from conception to natural death. On the 19th, we hosted an evening with dinner and our Field Agent for several interested Knights to be following our membership drive this weekend.

Prior to the meeting they enjoyed a presentation of a check to our local Hope4Life program. In addition to funding sonogram machines and the mobile pregnancy resource center, our Squires most recently spent a day working on the vehicle to keep it in tip top shape. We need to join them in prayer as well as funding to keep babies alive and to provide real pregnancy support that is not provided by activities that promote abortion.

Here is a link to our Facebook page, where you can not only follow our postings, but see a video of the Hope4Life presentations.

Knights in Action

Following up on a busy first two months of fall- with St. Benedict Council donating thousands of dollars and many hours to those in vulnerable from three major hurricanes as well as the continuing battle to save the unborn babies the abortion; Knights of Council #9056 turned to helping those in our community in need.

First, we enjoyed our annual support to the Southeastern VA Special Olympics Fall Championships.  Our Council was privileged to be responsible for delivering drinks, snacks and and later, lunch to the various venues (soccer, bocce, golf, roller skating, volleyball, bowling) throughout Virginia Beach for over 1,000 athletes!

This past Friday, we turned to the community support responsibilities, with Knights unloading cars, boxing food, and loading the truck for the Southeastern VA and Eastern Shore Foodbank.  The annual Mayflower Marathon takes places on the weekend prior to Thanksgiving in Pembroke Mall, and we enjoyed serving along several other community groups in this vital mission,
