About our council
Christ the King Council was founded in 1986. The Council meets at Christ the King Parish in Milwaukie. Council members are from mostly from Christ the King Parish and also from St. Philip Benizi Parish. We organize activities to support Church/Vocations, Community, Family, Pro-Life, Council and Youth. Our members work to be active participants in their parishes and communities.
Knights of Columbus at Christ the King
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal service organization of Catholic men with local councils in parishes throughout the U.S. and many other countries. Christ the King Council 9257 meets at Christ the King Parish. Meetings are held on the second Tuesdays of each month, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the parish office building.
Knights of Columbus members and their families focus on six Service Program areas: Church, Community, Council, Culture of Life, Family and Youth. We devote our time and resources helping to bring about positive change in our parish, local community and the world at large.
This past year, some of the actions our Council performed in service to Church included providing financial and moral support to a seminarian at Mt. Angel, donating money for a new Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine being constructed at the Grotto by Knights on the region, and organizing a parish garage sale to raise funds for the new CTK Parish Center.
For Community service, we held our Coat and Blanket Drive and donated 12 bags of coats and blankets to the St. Andre Besset Downtown Chapel, we donated funds to a young woman in Guatemala through Inbound, and we organize the frequent blood drives at CTK.
We support our Council members with newsletters and emails about our events and activities, we maintain a web site www.kofc9257.org, and we enjoy each other’s company at our socials, summer barbeque and Christmas party.
Our Culture of Life activities include donating funds to the Fr. Taaffe Homes for Unwed Mothers, and to First Image who provides ultrasounds and pregnancy resources.
Knights of Columbus is a family organization, and we support families with our Mother’s Day breakfast, our Food for Families program that donated more than 1,000 lbs. of food to the CTK St, Vincent de Paul food pantry, and our memorial to our deceased Knights in November.
Our service to Youth in highlighted by our donations to the McKernan Scholarship Fund for graduating CTK students, our support of the Cub Scouts, our support of the Toys For Kids event in December, and donating money to help buy t-shorts for the Vacation Bible School kids.
This year we will do many of these activities again, and more, driven by our member’s interests. Becoming a Knight of Columbus can enrich your life. As a Knight, you have the opportunity to support your parish, give back to your community, and grow your faith.
