John J. "Sonny" Nailon, 81, of Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove Township, husband of Nicolene (Yannessa) Nailon, passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer on Nov. 21, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late Francis M. and Frances (Whitton) Nailon.
John was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
For 38 years, he worked at Stanley G. Flagg & Co., retiring in 1996. During his years at Flagg's, John served as the recording secretary of AFL-CIO Local Union 2326. He was also a Lower Pottsgrove Township commissioner from 1972 to 1976.
John was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Pottstown and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Bally Council, Stowe, Pa.
Surviving with his wife of 60 years are a daughter Michele, wife of Matthew Cappelletti Jr., and a son John M. Nailon. He was a loving Poppy to his granddaughters Adrienne, wife of Justin Faralli, Mary, wife of Joseph Bognanno, Lisa Cappelletti, Nicole, wife of Mark Windish, Rochelle Nailon and Jessica Nailon and great granddaughters Gia Perrone and Wesleigh Windish. He is also survived by his sister Bea Malantonio and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, John was predeceased by brothers Bobby, Butch and Dennis Nailon and sisters Mildred Undercuffler, Doris Santori and Sally Timbario.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 233 Beech St., Pottstown. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Buchert Road, Lower Pottsgrove.
