JAMES R. O'CONNOR, 90, OF POTTSTOWN James R. O'Connor, 90, loving husband of Ann (Trosan) O'Connor of Wilson Street, Pottstown, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Sanatoga Center. Born in Johnstown, he was the son of the late James E. and Willa (McCamant) O'Connor. James was a 1949 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in chemical engineering. He was employed as a chemical engineer by the Firestone Corp. and the Occidental Chemical Corp. of Pottstown and later worked for the Philadelphia Naval Yard. He was a US Army veteran of WWII serving in India. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Aloysius RC Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Men of Malvern, Catholic War Veterans and an avid baseball fan, gardener and enjoyed traveling. He was also very active with the Boy Scouts. He was a loving father to daughters, Willa, wife of Steven Toth, Pottstown; Susan, wife of Joseph Compton, Pottstown, and Marian, wife of William Willauer, Mechanicsburg, PA; sons, Richard O’Connor and wife Sandra, Emmaus; Neil O’Connor, Pottstown and Raymond O’Connor, San Francisco; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Bernard O’Connor of Pittsburgh. He was predeceased by a son, Brian O’Connor, and brother, Robert O'Connor. A Funeral Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. Aloysius RC Church, Beech and Hanover streets, Pottstown. A viewing will be held 9 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the church gathering center. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery. Arrangements by Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, Pottstown. -
