In his 1995Encyclical, Evangelium Vitae, St. JohnPaul 11 called on all Catholic faithful to bear witness to the Gospel of Life and to build the civilization of life and love. "Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of Life with honesty and love to the people of our time':

St John Vianney's Knights of Columbus Council has responded to this call by erecting a monument as focus point of a larger project, in front of the church. A stone pathway is included allowing access to the monument and providing a safe way for parishioners to walk between front and back parking areas and to the parish office. Much needed paved access to the two church emergency exits has been included which facilitates snow removal and provides safe and clear egress.

Landscaping includes the addition of 2 tall cedar and maple trees framing the beautiful field stone wall fronting the church along with the addition of floodlighting to highlight the monument and granite fields stone.

Two park benches are provided, one adjacent to the monument for those wishing to pause and contemplate the message and the other, under the large shade tree near the front parking area for the convenience of parishioners who may be awaiting a ride after a service.

This worthy Knights of Columbus initiative costs approximately $50,000. Although some donations have already been received and a loan provided to allow this project to proceed, a fundraising campaign is now in order. Brother Knights have been solicited to make their contribution and all Parishioners are now invited to donate. Special yellow donation envelopes are included in the bulletin and provided at the back of the church.

They will also be included in next year's envelope package. Be sure to include your name and address on the envelopes as donations will accounted over the course of the fundraising campaign. Tax receipts will be provided for donations exceeding $20 annually. Once the fundraising is complete, a permanent donation recognition plaque will be placed in the church vestibule recognizing those making total donations of $250 or greater.

We truly believe this initiative will clearly show our respect for the Sanctity of Life and trust all Parishioners feel likewise and will generously support this endeavor.
