Who We Are
We as members of the Sacred Heart Council focus on developing programs that best serve the needs of our local community. All the good works are driven by our four core principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. We are a band of brothers, more than 225 strong, doing good in the service of God, our parish, and our neighbors. If interested in joining, or finding out more information, please contact Greg Antolak at 910-527-5456.
Fourth Degree Corner
There are four degrees of membership in the Knights. The first three degrees represent the values of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. The Fourth Degree is dedicated to the virtue of Patriotism, fostering that spirit in all members and the community at large. The Fourth Degree is the one most familiar to the public, identified by distinctive regalia and their participation in color corps and honor guards. They work tirelessly in their outreach to our nation's military - active, infirmed, or retired. The Fourth Degree is a position of prestige and something for which all Knights should strive.

The Rev. Robert T. Lawson Assembly Nabs Only Star Award in North Carolina
North Carolina Knights of Columbus District Master SK Jack Murray presented the Star Assembly Award to Sacred Heart's Knights of Columbus Assembly #2826. The presentation took place before a packed 5 pm Mass with about 20 Sir Knights and their Ladies in attendance.
DM Murray noted that our Assembly was the only one of the State's 43 Assemblies to complete all 7 of the requirements for the Award. Sir Knight (SK) Joe Volpe, the Assembly's Faithful Navigator (FN), accepted the award on behalf of all the SKs in the Assembly. In his remarks, FN Joe recognized the SKs who assisted him in completing all the requirements for this award. They included SK Jack O’Neil last year’s Faithful Captain and Program Director, SK Rich Benson, the Faithful Comptroller, SK Mike Samide, the newsletter publisher, SK Greg Antolak, our past membership director, for achieving the hardest requirement for the award, the event coordinators who organized and led 16 major activities last year.
Knights Award $35,000 in Charitable Gifts
The Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Council #12537 of Southport, gifted 17 Brunswick County charities $35,000 at our June business meeting. These gifts were made possible through the Knights Annual Charity Golf Tournament, Italian Night Dinners, and Operation LAMB Foundation (Least among My Brothers) AKA the Tootsie Roll campaign. None of this would have been possible if not for the overwhelming support offered through the merchants, agencies, companies and people of Brunswick County. Because of this participation the gifting to these charities on an annual basis has become a reality.
Knights Award $11,000 in Academic Scholarships.
Italian Night Dinner - May 2018
Our Council hosted the latest of our signature "Dinner Nights" on Sunday May 6th. Both seatings were again sold out. All proceeds will go to Kairos, A Christian, lay-led, ecumenical prison ministry and Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. According to Family Director Tom Gallo, the Council raised more than $3,000. Thanks to the many volunteer Brothers who helped out over the many days of prep and day of work. Special thanks to Chef Terry who once again out did himself.
Special thanks of course to our Pastor Father Vic Gournas for use again of the parish social hall.
Special Olympics Field Day - 2018

Another Golf Outing In the Books!!
On Wednesday September 20th the Council hosted our 2017 Charity Golf Tournament. In all, 160 golfers participated in the event. The Knights dedicated this year's golf outing to the memory of Bryan English, proprietor of Southport Quick Lube. Bryan was a true friend to the community and our Council. He had generously been the key sponsor of this annual event for the prior three years. His wife Amy was there as we honored his memory with a special presentation. We are proud to say the event raised $23.400 to benefit local charities. We sincerely thank all who made this possible; the Carolina National Golf Course, the more than 100 community sponsors, 160 competitors, and all of volunteers.
