TEXAS RELIEF

Brother Knights,

As we enjoy a beautiful summer here in Saskatchewan, it is virtually impossible to appreciate the impact of the catastrophic destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey throughout the state of Texas. State Deputy Brian received the attached communication from State Deputy Douglas Oldmixon from Texas asking that we consider partnering with our fellow Councils and members in providing financial support to the many families that are victims of the devastation from this storm.  As he indicated below, “The most immediate need is for funds to assist with shelter operations, daily food and relief for rescue and recovery workers and volunteers, and then eventually for direct relief of the most pressing of uninsured losses.”

The Sask K of C Charitable Foundation together with the Sask State Board are asking each member and Council to consider providing a donation to this worthy cause.  We have exemplified the lesson of charity through our generosity to the victims of devastation over the years including Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana in 2008, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2013 and most recently the fires in Fort McMurray, Alberta.  With the current devastation in Texas, we can once again demonstrate our ability and willingness to provide support to those in need.

Donations can be made payable to the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation and indicate on the check “Texas relief”.  Then mail the check to:

Sask K of C Charitable Foundation
Box 61
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan  S6H 4N7

Donations can also be made by credit card through our website at www.saskkofcfoundation.com.  Hit the Donate Now button and follow the instructions.  All donations will receive a tax receipt and donation totals will be credited to your Council goals for 2017. Click here for direct link to the campaign.

The donations received will be forwarded directly to the Texas State Council office for distribution. It is our intent to forward our first payment to the Texas State Council on Friday, September 22, 2017.  This will provide funds for those who require immediate support.  Our Foundation will continue to accept Texas relief donations until Friday, October 13th, 2017.  At that time we will forward our final donation check.

If you have any further questions, please contact Gerry Gieni at our Sask K of C Foundation & State Office in Moose Jaw at (306) 692 2846. We ask that you include those affected by Hurricane Harvey in your prayers and thank you in advance for your financial support and exemplification of the lesson of Charity.
