State Secretary / State Council (Activities) Director Report:

Greetings my Brother Knights. Many Councils are making plans on activities to do in the next 6-12-18 months (yes, I do hope you are planning that far ahead). Have you considered hosting a State Council event? As you can see listed in the calendar of events, there are a few events that have NOT yet been adjudicated.

As with all events, it creates the opportunity for our Order’s 3rd Principles: “FRATERNITY”. We all look forward to events when we will get to see those friends that we haven’t seen since last year. We have all made friends over the years as we attend each event. Plus it creates an opportunity to meet new friends as we support each new event in each new place.

Now, I realize it does take some effort to put on these events. Ok it can take a lot of effort. But it can be very rewarding. And yes, it requires volunteers to carry out these events. So, we start the usual batch of helpers. And then we start calling our Brother Knights working our way down the Council Roster. Maybe we can get “that guy that doesn’t like meetings” out to help, or that guy who hasn’t missed an Oiler’s game on TV (its summer now). We might get that guy out who was remembering why he joined the Knights (Hint: to help serve others). All creating another opportunity for FRATERNITY at the Council level, and the chance to make a few bucks doing it too.

The events CAN be associated with a Council Anniversary. Application forms are located on the State Website ( - and click on the BLACK BUTTON “Forms and Applications for State Council Events”).

If your Council is thinking of a date further in the future, please contact me. This list is short to save space. We will consider all applications as allowed as per policy.

If you have any questions about the process, potential dates, anything, please don’t hesitate to call me or email me. I will provide as much information as I can.
ON the flip side, if we are wanting Councils to support our events, we need to show support for those other Councils hosting events. While each member may find it difficult to attend them all, it is always nice to make sure all the members are aware of the various events so they can choose to attend any of them. I hear (and I have even said), “sorry, I didn’t know of the event”. SO we need to let all the Councils know of the events. Let’s share our Council Calendars with the others.
Keep up the GOOD work and THANK YOU for all the things you do in the name of the Knights of Columbus.
