Requests From Our Councils

SK James Michael Cannan

Go forth, Christian soul, and rest from this world
in the name of God the almighty Father,
who created you,
in the name of Jesus Christ, Son of the living God,
who suffered for you,
in the name of the Holy Spirit,
who was poured out upon you,
go forth, faithful Christian.

May you rest in peace this day,
may your home be with God in Zion,
with Mary, the Virgin Mother of God,
with Joseph, and all the Angels and Saints.

For those of us who new our Brother Jim, also know he was truly a Christian Soldier.
For some of us he was truly a great first example of a Grand Knight, one we will not soon forget. Let us pray that Jim's family finds peace at this challenging time.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of our Brother Knight, Andrew Muniak

Andrew Muniak, Jr, 70, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018. He was born May 13, 1948 in Passaic, NJ and grew up in Saddle Brook, NJ. He married Linda Wells on December 3, 1972 and moved to Barnegat, NJ in 1974 where he resided until his passing.

His parents Mary & Andrew Muniak, Sr. preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Linda and loving children Meghan Muniak of Stafford Township, NJ and Andrew Muniak III and wife Andrea of Barnegat, NJ.

Andrew was a partner along with his wife in Muniak & Muniak, Public Accountants for 37 years. He was a graduate of Rickard Stockton College of New Jersey. He served as chair and vice-chairman of the Barnegat Township Planning Board during multiple terms over 15 years. He was Treasurer and Advisor to the Barnegat Soccer Club for 30 years. He also was at various points a member of the Knights of Columbus, Stafford Lions Club, and the Stafford Kiwanis Club. Andrew was a Marine Corps reservist.

Andrew loved Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney World, with his favorite ride being the Jungle Cruise and its absurdly dry brand of humor, and his favorite Disney film being Fantasia. He had a real love for nature and plants and flowers; most visibly manifested in the care he took of his backyard, where he would often spend most summer nights with Linda smoking a cigar and listening to music. Above all he loved his family, and did all he could to never leave them wanting. He was always eager to support his children’s activities in and out of school and cherished the family vacations.

There will be a viewing at Thos. L. Shinn funeral home in Manahawkin, NJ on Wednesday, July 11 from 5-8 PM and another brief viewing on Thursday July 12 at 10 AM before a processional to St. Francis of Assisi in Brant Beach for mass at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks donations be made to The Nature Conservancy in Andrew’s honor. To leave online condolences for the family, please visit
