Council Announcements

Dear Brother Knights,

Supreme Knight Carl Anderson has identified 2017 as possibly “the decisive year in determining whether many Christian communities throughout the Middle East will continue to exist”. In his March 2017 Columbia magazine article titled “Grace & Solidarity”, the Supreme Knight states “the daily heroism of these brothers and sisters in the faith is an inspiration to their fellow Christians everywhere…..Let us pray that in spite of all the tribulations they face, they will remain faithful and that we will remain worthy of their trust in us.”

To that end, you and your guests are invited to attend a presentation entitled “Knights in Action & Solidarity with Persecuted Christians” to be held at Rock Creek Council #2797 – 5417 West Cedar Lane, Bethesda MD on Thursday April 27th at 7:30 pm. Please plan to come early. BBQ will be served in the lounge beginning at 6:30 pm.

This will be an evening designed to raise awareness that leads to effective action intended to relieve the suffering of Christian communities experiencing unprecedented levels of persecution, dislocation and distress across the Middle East. Presentations will include a history of the Knight’s support including an update on the current status of the Order’s ongoing efforts such as the Solidarity Cross Program. Guest speakers Dr. Issam Daya of Syria and Sir Knight Rateb Rabie (founder of the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation) will provide first-hand accounts of the desperation and suffering of Christian communities in need of our assistance.

As Knights, we value the effectiveness of both corporal and spiritual works of mercy. We will not stand silent in the face of injustice. The program will seek to encourage a prayerful solidarity while promoting effective models of practical assistance designed to alleviate the suffering of Christians. By raising awareness that leads to action and increased solidarity, we hope to make a real difference in the lives of our suffering brothers and sisters in Christ.
Please plan to attend our event. All are welcome! May Our Lady Queen of the Knights guard and protect us in this most worthy effort!
Vivat Jesus!
